These in-person events have been scheduled for faculty and adjuncts.

  • 4-5 p.m., Sept. 19: Northwest Campus faculty, G105, Northwest Campus
  • 2:30-3:30 p.m., Oct. 8: Adjunct faculty only, C105, District Office
  • 3:30-4:30 p.m., Oct. 14: East Campus faculty, L101, East Campus
  • 3:30-4:30 p.m., Oct. 15: Desert Vista Campus faculty, F123, Desert Vista Campus.

These sessions will not be recorded or live streamed.

Learning Communities: Collaborative Teaching Opportunities for Spring and Fall 2025
The College encourages faculty members to explore teaching in a Learning Community, by joining a virtual information session at either 4 p.m. Oct. 9 or noon Oct. 11 and/or by submitting LC Interest Form by Oct. 18. In a Learning Community a cohort of students is enrolled in two co-requisite courses in different disciplines. The faculty collaborate to develop complementary, innovative content. This partnership promotes rich pedagogies and encourages students to make substantive connections between the curricula. More details are here. If you have questions, contact Dana Drake Rosenstein, drosenstein@pima.edu.

Faculty Innovation Project, Sabbatical Proposals Now Open
Two professional development opportunities are open to regular, full-time faculty:

  • First, through Sept. 30, the Teaching Innovation Project (TIP) is accepting release time requests for activities/projects in Spring 2025. These activities/projects must enable the faculty member to develop novel innovative teaching approaches, and will extend beyond their regular roles and responsibilities. Read details about submitting proposals here. The TIP pilot is offered through the Office of the Provost.
If you have questions about submitting your TIP application, please contact Diane Miller, faculty-services@pima.edu.
  • Also, through Oct. 21, the PCC Sabbatical Program is accepting proposals for 2025-2026. This program provides individual, regular full-time faculty members with extended professional development that will benefit students, faculty, the College and community. Full details about proposal submission are on the employee Intranet Home>Academic Services>Faculty Sabbaticals & Enrichment.
For questions about the Sabbatical Program or your application content, please contact one of the Faculty Professional Development & Sabbatical Committee Members. Questions about submitting your application to the Sabbatical Portal can be directed to Diane Miller, faculty-services@pima.edu.

Pima Cultural Connections News

  • National Hispanic Heritage Month: Each year, National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place Sept. 15-Oct. 15 to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures and extensive histories of the American peoples’ Hispanic, Latin American, Spanish and related communities.
Hispanic Heritage Month was originally observed as “Hispanic Heritage Week,” in 1968, but was extended to a month-long observance in 1988. Since then, it has been celebrated nationwide through such activities as festivals, art shows, conferences and community gatherings. The month also celebrates the independence days of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua (Sept. 15), Mexico (Sept. 16), and Chile (Sept. 18). It also covers holidays that recognize Hispanic contributions to society, such as Virgin Islands-Puerto Rico Friendship Day, which is celebrated in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
