Due to unforeseen circumstances, all members of the Pima Community College (PCC) Governing Board will be attending the Board's March 8, 2023, Regular Meeting remotely. At the discretion of the Board Chair, PCC administrators and others making scheduled presentations to the Board may also be appearing remotely. Tonight's meeting will otherwise be conducted in a hybrid format as previously noticed, and members of the public may still attend in person at PCC's District Office, room C-105. During the "Public Comment-Call to the Audience" portion of tonight's meeting, public comments may still be made either remotely or in person. PCC staff will be on-site in room C-105 to assist members of the public attending in person who wish to address comments to the Board.

Teaching & Learning Center

The Teaching and Learning Center strives to be a hub of scholarship and innovation devoted to teaching & learning through promoting a culture of exceptional teaching.

As integral to the success of the College, we:

  • Host workshops, lectures, learning communities, fellowships, conferences, mentoring, and other professional development opportunities throughout the year
  • Sustain a community of colleagues dedicated to the research, scholarship, art, and practice of teaching & learning
  • Increase the visibility of existing, and promote new opportunities for, exemplary practices of teaching & learning
  • Support equitable working & learning environments to build inclusive classrooms

Certificates

The TLC's Certificates follow a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) model to recognize the work that Pima Community College Faculty put in to continuously develop their teaching skills and classroom practices in areas that reflect PCC's overall mission and strategic goals. In addition, they celebrate the community of teachers at PCC and build a stronger, more inclusive cohort of scholars dedicated to teaching and learning. Since its launch in Fall 2021, over 100 faculty have completed at least one level of this program and several faculty have completed all levels in one category. The five certificates include:

• Improving Teaching & Learning through Grading, Assessment, & Use of Data
• Educational Technologies: Virtual & D2L Tools
• Anti-Racist, Inclusive, & Equitable Pedagogies
• Contemplative Pedagogy: Engagement, Presence, and Practice
• Global Learning

Additional certificates are added to reflect PCC’s priorities in teaching and learning. For example, in Fall 2022 we added the Global Learning and Contemplative Pedagogy certificates, and the TLC is currently working with faculty experts on a certificate focusing on climate action and sustainability.
