For College & Career (ABECC)

Are you ready to finish high school, get a better job, improve your English, or become a U.S. citizen? Pima’s Adult Basic Education for College and Career (ABECC) can help. We offer classes in person and online so you can learn in the way that works best for you.

For more than 50 years, we’ve helped adults across Tucson and Pima County reach their goals. With flexible class options, supportive teachers, and a welcoming environment, ABECC is here to help you move forward — no matter where you’re starting from.

  • Earn your High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
    It’s never too late to go back to school. Our GED® and High School Equivalency (HSE) prep classes will help you improve your reading, writing, math, and basic computer skills. Earning your diploma can open the door to college, career training, and better job opportunities. Explore the three different ways you can earn your High School Equivalency diploma and find the path that’s right for you.

  • Learn English
    If you would like to improve your English language skills, we can help you feel more confident speaking, reading, and writing. Our English classes (ESOL) are made for adult learners like you. You’ll learn at your own pace in a friendly classroom, with teachers who support you every step of the way.

  • Get Career Training While You Learn
    At ABECC, you don’t need to wait to gain career skills. You can train for in-demand jobs while earning your HSE diploma or improving your English.

ABECC Programs

Pima offers classes to help you build your skills and reach your goals — all at no cost. Improve your reading, writing, and math skills, prepare for the High School Equivalency (HSE) test, learn English, and get ready for college or launching a career.

HSE Preparation

Want to earn your High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma? Pima offers free classes to help you prepare for the GED® test. You’ll work on reading, writing, math, science, and social studies—all the subjects on the test. Classes are mostly online, with a few in-person meetings for extra support.

English Classes (ESOL)

Want to improve your English? Our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes will help you build skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Whether you’re a beginner or already know some English, we have a class for you.

IBEST

PCC’s Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (IBEST) programs let you build important skills like reading, writing, math, and digital literacy while earning a career certificate—so you can reach your goals faster. Whether you need a High School Equivalency or want to boost your skills alongside technical training, IBEST combines both in one supportive program. Learn more about our IBEST programs.

Take the GED® test at Pima’s Downtown Campus to earn your High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. The test is computer-based and available in English and Spanish. Learn how to register and take the next step toward your future!

Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship

Thinking about becoming a U.S. citizen? Pima offers classes that help you understand your rights and responsibilities, including lessons on civic engagement, history, and government. Refugee Education

If you’ve come to the United States as a legal refugee, the Refugee Education Program (REP) is here to help you learn English. Our classes are designed for all skill levels—from beginners to those preparing for college. You’ll learn practical English skills that make it easier to work, live independently, and succeed every day. Our instructors are certified by the State of Arizona and ready to support you.
