College Updates

Submit a Pima Story Idea
The College wants to highlight the incredible achievements of our outstanding students and alums. We need your help! We want stories to inspire current and potential students, stories that deserve to be shared with our community. If you know of any inspiring success stories or remarkable accomplishments by our students or graduates, we would love to hear from you. Please take a moment to share your story ideas. Together let’s shine a spotlight on their achievements and highlight the diverse and remarkable journeys in our Pima community. If you have questions, contact Web Systems.

Understanding Muslim Perspectives: Challenges and Opportunities for Educators
There are about 1.8 billion Muslims in the world and nearly four million in the United States. Arizona is home to more than 100,000 Muslims, including more than 25,000 in Pima County. Maha Nassar, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies at the University of Arizona, will discuss the unique challenges faced by Muslim-American students, and present strategies for fostering their success. Her workshop underscores the importance of cultural understanding in education, offering insights into Muslim perspectives and highlighting opportunities for educators to better support this diverse student population.

  • When: 2 p.m. Feb. 2
  • Virtual: https://pima.zoom.us/j/99753042464
  • Certificates: Anti-Racist, Inclusive and Equitable Pedagogies; Global Learning
  • Note: Adjunct Faculty is compensated at $25/hour.

Personal Safety Workshop
Pima’s Emergency Manager Bruce Westberg will provide a workshop offering strategies on becoming more aware of your surroundings, locating potential threats and improving your safety in Pima classrooms, on campuses and beyond. Time will be allowed for questions, which may help inform future sessions. Join the virtual event 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Feb. 2.

Professional Development Opportunities: Teaching Innovation Project Proposals

The deadline is Feb. 29. Details can be found at Teaching Innovation Projects (TIPs). For more information, contact pcc-facultysabbatical+owners@pima.edu.
