A Note to @PimaNews Readers

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, until further notice, @PimaNews will focus on recent COVID-19-related policy and procedure changes most affecting employees. These will be revised and updated as the situation warrants.

College Updates

Info for Students, Employees and Community on Pima’s COVID-19 Web Page
The latest information and employee notices at pima.edu/covid19 include a link to FAQs about the self-reporting requirement under the temporary COVID-19 personnel policies, plus a link the Employee Handbook.

College leadership is committed to communicate with you early and often during this uncertain time. However, they realize all of that information and details sometimes can be overwhelming. Chancellor Lee Lambert no longer is sending daily updates, but you can get the most current information on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the College at pima.edu/covid19, which also has a Notices to students page. Also, regularly check your College email.

For health-related info visit:

Governing Board Passes Resolution Reacting to Killing of George Floyd
On June 3, the Governing Board passed a resolution reacting to the killing of George Floyd. The resolution also supports Chancellor Lee Lambert’s May 31 all-employee email condemning the killing.

Board OKs Pay Raises, Tuition Hike in FY2021 Budget
At its June 3 meeting, Pima’s Governing Board voted to approve the Fiscal Year 2021 budget, including a salary increase of 1% for all regular employees, a 1.5% increase to adjunct faculty load rate, and an In-State Resident tuition increase to $87 per credit. Details are on the Governing Board's Web page.

Next Chancellor’s Virtual All College Meeting June 18
The next Chancellor’s Virtual All College Meeting is 3 to 4 p.m., June 18.

The topics include reopening and return-to-work plan, exciting new initiatives and opportunities to make a difference for Pima, and Pima’s Equity Agenda. More information will be announced soon.

College Contracts with Paymerang for Payment Services
In an effort to improve efficiency, achieve faster payment settlement and be more environmentally responsible, the College has contracted with Richmond, Va.-based Paymerang to provide payment services. Paymerang began executing payments on behalf of the College in May.

If you are contacted by a vendor regarding the partnership or payment, please have them contact Payment Services Manager Graciela P. Dominguez, 520-206-4875 or gdominguez@pima.edu.

Request Sick to Annual Leave Transfer in June
In order to encourage the practical use of sick leave, the College allows eligible employees to request to transfer up to 40 hours of unused accrued sick leave to annual leave each June. All eligible staff and administrative personnel have until the end of June to submit a Sick Leave to Annual Leave Transfer Request. To be eligible, an employee must be regular full-time or an administrator (faculty are not eligible), have passed the initial hire probation period at the time of the request, and have used six or fewer days of sick leave during the fiscal year. All eligible transfers will take place by July 31. To determine if you are eligible, log into your MyPima account and check your sick leave usage from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. Full-time regular employees are entitled to two personal leave days per fiscal year. Personal leave days charged to sick leave are not taken into account when determining eligible leave to transfer. For help determining your eligibility/leave transfer, contact the Employee Service Center, esc@pima.edu. For details, refer to the Sick Leave to Annual Leave Transfer section of the Employee Handbook.

Campus and Faculty Resource Centers Available Weekdays

Donate Annual or Sick Leave to Pool
Consider helping your colleagues by donating your excess sick or annual leave to the College’s Donated Leave Bank. Donation limits apply. Your donations will help support Pima employees who are out due to an FMLA-qualifying reason. Donations will be anonymous and cannot be returned to the donor. Only the period of medical and parental FMLA that is supported by medical certification is eligible for donated leave. Email completed donation forms to Employee Service Center, esc@pima.edu, where you also can email questions.
