Interested in working with aircraft but not sure where to start? The courses in this program are for high school students enrolled through Pima JTED - Joint Technical Education District. You’ll build hands-on skills in aircraft maintenance, using the same tools and equipment found in professional aviation facilities. You’ll learn the fundamentals of how aircraft systems work and how to support FAA-certified mechanics on the job.

The program takes three years to complete if you start as a high school sophomore or two years if you start as a high school junior. Completing the certificate qualifies you for entry-level roles — such as a panel technician or maintenance assistant — in aircraft repair and service facilities. And if you decide you want to go further, it’s an easy transition into Pima’s Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Certificate, which leads to FAA certification and even more career opportunities in the field.
