College Updates
@PimaNews Summer Schedule
@PimaNews is on its summer schedule of every-other-week publication.
Please send announcements and news items – 75 words or fewer – to pimanews@pima.edu by noon on the Monday of publication week.
Save the Date for All College Day 2026 on Aug. 21
The theme for All College Day 2026 is “Pima, Meet Yourself! Great People, Great Place!”
All College Day 2026 is Aug. 21 in the Grand Ballroom and Long Galleria at Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave.
Again this year, we’ll have breakfast, the Community Connect information expo, activities and a hygiene drive. Plus, we’ll recognize employees celebrating milestone anniversaries, give College and campus updates and show fun videos.
Watch your Pima email in the coming weeks for event details and information on related activities. If you have any questions, email collegeevents@pima.edu.
Staff Professional Development Fund Applications Now Open
The Fiscal Year 2027 Staff Professional Development (SPD) Fund application is now open.
Eligible regular full-time nonexempt and exempt staff employees (director level and below) may apply using the FY27 application. Faculty and adjunct faculty should contact their division for information about Faculty Professional Development funding.
To help ensure equitable access to limited funding, no more than two employees from the same department may use SPD funds to attend the same conference or training. This allows more employees across the College to benefit from professional development opportunities. Before submitting your application, discuss it with your supervisor. Your supervisor must email their approval to pcc-staffprofessionaldevelopment@pima.edu before your application can be reviewed. The first round of SPD Applications will be reviewed after July 15.
The FY27 application, eligibility requirements, guidelines and policies are available on the Organizational Effectiveness & Development page on MyPima, in the Employee section under Human Resources. If you have questions, email pcc-staffprofessionaldevelopment@pima.edu.
Naloxone Stations Being Installed at Campuses
Over the summer, staff are installing naloxone stations at all Pima campuses. Naloxone, a nasal spray that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, will be stored in red Overdose Emergency Kit boxes with easy-to-follow instructions. Stations will be located:
- Next to every AED device
- At every campus library front desk
- At every campus student services front desk
If you encounter someone experiencing a possible opioid overdose, call 911 immediately. If naloxone is available and you feel safe administering it, you may do so while waiting for emergency responders. PCC Police officers also carry naloxone and are trained to respond to overdose emergencies.
The stations are provided by PCC Police in collaboration with the Pima County Department of Health Services and Arizona HIDTA.
Help Us Amplify Student Voices
Pima’s marketing is putting real students front and center to showcase their unique Pima journeys and let their voices shine. Know a student or alum who’d be a great fit? Encourage them to fill out this short form! They can share as much about themselves as they’d like and let us know which marketing projects interest them. With your help, we can feature more students and highlight the wide range of academic paths, interests and goals that make our Pima community so diverse. If you have questions, contact marketing@pima.edu.
Media Production Extends Turnaround Times
The College’s Media Production team is currently managing a high volume of requests during a period of staffing transition. As a result, turnaround times for new projects may be longer than usual, typically three weeks or more.
The team will make every effort to accommodate time-sensitive needs; however, expedited or rush requests cannot be guaranteed at this time. To help ensure the best possible support, we encourage you to submit detailed project requests as early as possible when planning upcoming work with specific deadlines.
If you have questions or would like guidance on timing or project planning, please email marketing@pima.edu.
Federal Work Study Position Request Period Open
If you want to hire a Federal Work Study student employee for your department for 2026-2027, submit your request here.
Before a position will be posted, the student employee supervisor must complete the mandatory FWS Supervisor Training.
If you have questions, email fws@pima.edu.
Start Planning Your 2027-2028 Sabbatical Proposal
Full-time faculty are urged to begin preparing sabbatical proposals for the 2027-2028 academic year. Oct. 19 is the submission deadline.
To be eligible, full-time faculty must complete five consecutive academic or fiscal years of full-time service at the College in order to apply for their first one-semester (six-month) full-pay or half-pay sabbatical. For guidelines, visit Faculty Professional Development: Sabbaticals. If you have questions or need help with the application, contact a member of the Faculty Professional Development & Sabbatical Committee.
