Annual Rodders Days Car Show at Downtown Campus April 20
Downtown Campus hosts one of the best local car shows every April. It’s free, fun for all ages and a wonderful way to spend the day! This year, the  Tucson Street Rod Association (TSRA) Annual Rodders Days Car Show is April 20, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the sunshine and amazing vehicles.

There will be hand-built street rods, custom and classic cars; antique engines, tractors and mining equipment; vintage campers; food vendors and more. In addition, Dean of Applied Technology Greg Wilson will be on hand to talk about Pima’s hands-on programs and provide tours of the College’s Advanced Manufacturing Building. Pima’s Automotive faculty will provide tours of the Automotive Technology and Innovation Center.

STEAM Family Night April 26
Interested in Learning More about Pima’s STEAM Programs - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math? STEAM Family Night, 5-8 p.m. April 26, at Northwest Campus, is an opportunity to connect you and your family to STEAM in an interactive, fun and engaging manner. It is Pima’s goal to create a STEAM experience that allows participants to envision themselves in a STEAM field and explore existing STEAM opportunities with STEAM advisors, STEM professors and industry leaders in the community.

Volunteer Opportunity at Pima County Fair
Represent the College at the Pima County Fair April 19-28. Volunteer to staff the Pima table for two hours and receive free parking and entry to the fair. Share your subject-matter expertise with interested community members. Volunteers will be entered into the monthly Amazon drawing and receive healthy rewards. Learn more and sign up here. 

Volunteers Needed for Arizona Undergraduate Research Symposium May 4
Volunteers are needed for the 2024 Arizona Undergraduate Research Symposium. This forum for original research is open to all Arizona undergraduate students. It will be held at West Campus on May 4, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in room C-217.

Additional information:

  • Deadline for student presenter application/registration: April 25. 
  • Deadline for attendee registration:  May 4; help organizer get a headcount for refreshments, room logistics, etc. 
  • The Symposium FAQ contains information about presentations, as well as the link to the registration form, and a QR code for registration.
  • Lastly, the event needs volunteers to help with registration, help students set up their posters, and judge/give feedback on presentations on the day of the event.

EGTSS Summit on Climate Action, Sustainability and Eco-Justice, May 10
The 8th Annual Ethnic, Gender, Transborder Studies and Sociology Summit on Climate Action, Sustainability, and Eco-Justice: Thinking Globally, Acting Locally will be held May 10. The free event is 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the West Campus Proscenium Theatre. Local experts and activists will be addressing local issues and offering workshops for hands-on skills to create solutions. The event will feature Ami Vitale, an award-winning, internationally recognized, National Geographic photographer, Nikon Ambassador and documentary filmmaker. Her work spans various themes, from war to wildlife around the globe, including the Middle East, Africa and China. Free and open to the public. Register now.

Noncredit Zumba Class Starts May 8
A noncredit community education Zumba course is starting May 8 at Desert Vista Campus.  The course will run Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m. through June 26.  The course price is $49.00. Enroll online. Explore other noncredit courses.

Faculty Appreciation Week
Show your appreciation for Pima’s amazing faculty. For Faculty Appreciation Week May 6-10, you can craft a note to an individual instructor or leave a message for all Pima faculty through a digital message. To participate, head to this Padlet where you can draw, add text, images, links, video and more! Teaching Strategies Workshop Save-the-date
The annual Teaching Strategies Workshop will be 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Downtown Campus. This year’s theme is caring classrooms. In addition to saving the date, propose a workshop or panel by completing this form. To register for the event, log into MyPima and click on 2024 Teaching Strategies Workshop, then scroll to the bottom of the screen, click View Details, then Request. Pima Additional Location Site Visit Reporting Form
This is a  reminder to use the new Additional Location Visit Reporting Form to track all Pima staff/administrator/faculty site visits in one centralized location and for HLC supporting evidence to be gathered for the embedded report.

Volunteers Ushers Needed for May 22 Commencement Ceremony
The College still needs volunteer ushers to help at the 2024 Commencement Ceremony on May 22 at the Tucson Convention Center Arena. Here are details about Guest Ushers:

  • needed 6-9 p.m. (some assignments may leave by 7:15 p.m.)
  • help ensure attendees find their way to the appropriate seating areas.
  • help point graduates to the check-in area and assist students during the ceremony

Annual Benefits Open Enrollment Through April 22
Open enrollment for the 2024-2025 benefits plan year is underway and ends April 22. Benefits-eligible employees who want to update their current benefits elections may do so through the Online Enrollment Portal – MyPima, @Work, Benefits Enrollment link. 

Benefits Virtual One-on-one Appointments
Sign up for virtual one-on-one appointments with the Benefits Team staff, available throughout the enrollment period. More information will be posted on the Employee Service Center Open Enrollment page. If you have any questions, contact the Employee Service Center Benefits Team, 520-206-4945.

Simple Syllabus Training for Faculty
Beginning summer 2024, Simple Syllabus software will be available for all CRNs in all D2L Course Shells. This tool is now the College’s syllabus system for all courses. See the PCC Simple Syllabus Training Schedule - Spring & Early Summer 2024 for complete details about Introduction- and Intermediate-level training and Drop-In sessions. Pre-registration is not required. If you are a department lead, or other coordinator wanting to schedule a group training with your faculty at a particular time (either a stand-alone session or at a regularly scheduled meeting that you hold; virtual or in-person), complete this form. West Campus Faculty Services Holding Canned Food Drive
Pima West Campus’ Faculty Services and Resource Center is hosting a Canned Food Drive throughout April to benefit the ARC Resource Center and Food Pantry. The most needed items are corn, beans, mixed vegetables, soups, peaches, oranges, mixed fruits, tuna, chicken and SPAM. Place donations in the blue bin at Faculty Services, A-215, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays or 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays, through April 30.

Therapeutic Massage Appointments Available Thursdays Through May 16
The Northwest Campus Massage Clinic offers quality massage services to students, staff and the public through May 16. A 50-minute massage is $20 for Pima employees and students with a Pima A#, and $30 for the public. The clinic is in A211 and appointment dates and times are:

  • Thursdays, through May 16 at 10:30 and 11:35 a.m., and 12:40 and 1:45 p.m.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test in the previous 24 hours is required. Therapeutic Massage is not appropriate for anyone with serious or uncontrolled medical conditions, contagious illness or fever, or for women who are pregnant. To schedule an appointment, call 520-206-2062. Prepayment required.

Trujillo’s father’s tenure in the defense industry through mixed-media prints. His father’s military experience was marred by the quest for more efficient weapons, leading to haunting nightmares. Employees also are encouraged to visit the Employee Wellness website for additional resources, news and information on the Pima Healthy Rewards Program and wellness-related activities that qualify for Pima Wellness Activity points.
