Schedule Your Floating Cesar Chavez Day in March
Employees should schedule their floating Cesar Chavez Day holiday as soon as possible with their supervisor. The holiday is to be taken in March. Non-exempt employees should record it on their timecards. Email the Employee Service Center at esc-payroll@pima.edu, if you have questions.

Submit a Pima Student or Graduate Story
The External Relations team wants to highlight some of Pima’s outstanding members of the Class of 2023. Please, identify a graduating student from your department who has a remarkable story to tell. Whether it’s someone persevering through hardships, attaining a special achievement or demonstrating an exceptional school-life balance, we’d like to hear about them. We are focusing on graduating students in the weeks leading up to the May 24 Graduation Ceremony, but also want to hear about other Pima students.

Records Management Help for Purge Week April 3-7
To assure that the College is following state and federal record retention requirements, Pima’s Information Assurance and Records is promoting a record purge week from April 3-7.

Purging Process:

  • Inventory your records in file cabinets, shared drives and other approved record storage
  • Reference approved Department File Plans or AZ Retention Schedules for disposition and storage guidelines
  • For assistance with storing and disposing records, submit an IT Services Request for Information Management.

Sign Up by March 28 to Volunteer for ACES at Gospel Rescue Mission
ACES Members can volunteer at the Gospel Rescue Mission to help serve more than 3,000 meals and distribute 700 Easter baskets to kids and families in the community. Sign up by March 28 using this form.

Benefits Open Enrollment Is April 3-17
Open enrollment for the 2023-2024 benefits plan year is April 3-17. Beginning April 3, benefits-eligible employees who want to make changes to their current benefits elections may do so via MyPima>@Work>Benefits Enrollment. Early submissions will not be accepted. You cannot make changes to your benefits plan outside of open enrollment unless you have a qualifying life event. Throughout the enrollment period, virtual one-on-one appointments will be available for employees to ask questions. More information on open enrollment will be posted on the Employee Service Center Intranet page. Volunteer Opportunities for Pima County Fair, Earth Day
Sign up for a two-hour volunteer opportunity and complete our post event survey to earn one Healthy Reward point.

Pima County Fair, April 20-30: Share information with the community about your program or consider bringing your class to the fairgrounds to speak with prospective students during the middle and high school Field Trip Days! Sign up using this online form.

Earth Day Festival at the Children’s Museum, April 22: Join us at the Children’s Museum for interactive activities organized by the College’s Strategy, Analytics and Research office, participate with the community in hands-on activities about recyclables and solar panels. Share and display information about your program. Sign up using this online form.

Faculty Services & Resource Center Wants to Hear from Users

As it strives for continual improvement, the College’s Faculty Services & Resource Center has opened a survey to get user feedback.

If you have used one of its five campus locations or had a virtual experience for anything from assistance with D2L or Google Apps, or picking up a copy request you have submitted via email, you are asked to complete this survey online.

Faculty Sign Up Now to Mentor for Design Challenge

Join Student Life and various units throughout the College in celebrating United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) Design Challenge week April 7 - 14. The UNSDG Design Challenge week encourages everyone at Pima to find and experiment with ways to support sustainability goals and other goals aligning with the UNSDGs

The week-long challenge is April 7-14, with student teams working with faculty mentors. Also, during the week, Pima Student Life will present virtual and on-campus events, while Pima’s Teaching and Learning Center hosts various workshops.

Apply for U.N. Sustainability Open Pedagogy Summer Fellowships
The College’s Teaching and Learning Center and the Provost’s Office announce that applications are open to all Pima faculty for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Open Pedagogy Fellowship Awards for Summer 2023. Ten $1,000 awards will be given to Pima faculty.

This global award-winning fellowship is designed to give faculty an opportunity to learn how open pedagogy, interdisciplinary and cross-institutional connections, and community engagement can be intertwined to transform their teaching practices and the students’ learning experiences.

For more information about the fellowship, please visit the Pima Community College UNSDG Open Pedagogy Announcement Page, and submit your application through this online form no later than 11:59 p.m. on April 3.

Pima Mailed W-2s, 1095-Cs Jan. 27, Feb. 3
Pima mailed W-2 and 1095-C tax forms via the U.S. Postal Service, Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, respectively.

Any employee who has not received their forms or who needs a copy, may access them on MyPima. Login to MyPima > @Work page, scroll down to the “Banner Online” box on the lower left side of the page. Select the Employee folder and Tax Forms. From the drop-down menu, find the needed tax form and the year, then select “Display.” To print, choose “Printable version” at the bottom left of the form.

Therapeutic Massage Appointments Available March 30-May 18
The Northwest Campus Massage Clinic, Room A211, is offering quality massage services to staff, students and the public March 30-May 18. A 50-minute massage is $20 for Pima employees and students with a Pima ID, and $30 for members of the public. Appointments are available Thursdays, 12:30, 1:35, 2:40 or 3:45 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 520-206-2062. Prepayment is required.

The College’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will be hosting spring FWS supervisor training in March, April and May. If you are or want to be a supervisor of a Federal Work Study student, sign up here for a virtual training.

Learn About AERC and Get Involved
Pima’s All-Employee Representative Council (AERC) is a group of representatives from all employee classifications. Members serve two-year terms. AERC meets monthly, and reviews and updates policies and finds solutions to matters affecting work conditions. Visit the AERC Intranet Page for more information. General meetings are open to all employees. Submit questions or concerns to any member or to the online comment box.

Pima Music Spring Music Showcase, April 2
On April 2, spend an afternoon at the Center for the Arts sampling our music ensembles. Between 1 and 5 p.m., Pima’s Chorale & College Singers, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Mariachi Ensemble, and Orchestra will perform selections throughout the CFA. Admission is free.

Pima Theater Performs ‘Proof’ April 13-23
Pima Theater Arts graduate Gianbari Deebom directs Pima Theater students in David Auburn’s drama “Proof” April 13-23. Pj Peavy is assistant director. The story follows Catherine, whose celebrated mathematician father, Robert, has recently died after battling mental illness. When a former student discovers an original proof in Robert’s office, Catherine must prove it is her work even when no one believes her. Showing Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets: $15, $10 Students/Seniors/Military/Groups; Pima students get one ticket for free.

Employees also are encouraged to visit the Employee Wellness website for additional resources, news and information on the Pima Healthy Rewards Program and wellness-related activities that qualify for Pima Wellness Activity points. You also can keep current on the latest wellness news.
