General Information/Course Information

Completion Time for the Program

The HIT AAS program consists of 60 credits. Completion time will vary depending on full-time/part-time student status and placement on basic skills assessment. Students attending full-time may complete the HIT AAS program within 4 semesters.

Special Grade Requirements

Must receive a C grade or better in all core courses to progress to the next semester.

Program Location and Schedule

The Health Information Technology program may be completed fully online and there are no requirements for on-campus attendance. Optional on-campus workshops are offered each semester to provide students opportunities for face-to-face instruction.

Students must be able to access the Internet on a daily basis.

Students are required to complete a practical experience during the final semester of the program.

Time off/Interrupted Program Information

Life happens!  We understand that students sometimes need to temporarily opt out of attending college.  Unfortunately, staying current with industry demands often necessitates changes to our curriculum.

Students who leave the program for more than two semesters (Fall, Spring), will need approval from the Program Director to return and may be required to repeat courses or modify the original degree plan.

Information on Employment Practices

Pursuing a career in any field within the healthcare industry will typically require evidence of vaccinations, immunizations, drug testing, fingerprint clearance and a background check. Students should be prepared to provide this information to any potential employer and may be required to provide this information in order to complete the Practical Experience (Internship).
