Placement Testing
We want you to be successful in your classes and that’s why placement is important. Placement aims to start you off at the right level of coursework for you. There are 3 ways to place into courses at PCC. Click on the selections below for the multiple ways to place into courses at PCC.
English as a Second Language students should schedule ESL Accuplacer.
Three Ways for Course Placement
Did you graduate high school or earn your GED in the last 5 years or have at least 6 semesters of grades? Then we can use a process called Multiple Measures to place you.
PLEASE NOTE: There are GPA minimums for placement and SAT/ACT scores can place you higher.
If your transcript indicates a "modified curriculum" please consider option 2, PimaEdReady, below.
View the Multiple Measures Placement Chart to see how you will place using Multiple Measures.
To get started, submit your High School or GED Transcript (unofficial).
You will receive an email to your Pima email when your documents have been recorded and placement has been determined.
If you submitted your high school transcript to the Registrar’s Office via email or through an online service like Parchment, please contact us at pcc-virtualtesting@pima.edu for placement evaluation.
Email from your Pima CC student account and include your Student ID number; we do not accept documents submitted from personal email accounts.
- Log into MyPima: Access your dashboard at MyPima. Note: Pima does not accept scores from accounts associated with personal, non-Pima emails. You must enter EdReady through your student portal to link your progress to your official record.
- Navigate to Placement Scores: Go to the "Placement Test Scores" page. You can reach this via the home screen widget, the left-side navigation menu, or the search feature in MyPima.
- Access the Assessment: On the MyPima Placement Test Scores page, click the link to "Take a Non-Proctored Pima EdReady Placement Test." This step is essential to bridge your student credentials with the EdReady system.
- Enter Your Official Goal Key: Enter the specific Goal Key to start your diagnostic or resume a previous session.
- Reading: read26place
- Writing: write26place
- Intermediate Math (up to MAT 142): devmath26place
- Advanced Algebra (up to MAT 151/187): advmath26place (Recommended for STEM, Business, or Algebra 2 students)
- Get and Improve Your Results: After completing the initial diagnostic, view your official placement score on the "Placement Test Scores" page in MyPima. If you want to improve your placement, work through your custom study path to master new skills and increase your score before registering for classes.
