Translation & Interpretation Studies Concentration

Associate of Arts


This concentration is currently inactivated and is no longer accepting new students. If you are interested in this area of study, consider the TRS Certificate ProgramStudents who have completed the certificate can choose to continue their studies by pursuing the Associate of Arts - Liberal Arts.

Gain the skills in translating written documents and orally interpreting between English and Spanish while preparing to transfer to a university. This degree combines theory and practice and allows students to to translate and/or interpret in such specialty areas as healthcare, education, legal, business or literature.  

Conditional Enrollment Program: You will be eligible to enroll in TRS courses once you score a minimum of 601 on the Spanish WebCAPE (Computerized Adaptive Placement Test) or can provide proof of Spanish proficiency attained with either the successful completion of SPA 202 or SPA 203 or alternative exam placement-i.e., CLEP or AP scores. See the program director or advisor for more information.

Academic Options

This program is designed to transfer to the Spanish, Translation and Interpretation emphasis degree at the University of Arizona. Students planning to transfer to another university should meet with an advisor to complete a transfer plan.
