Digital Arts Awards Celebrate Student Filmmakers, Animators at Pima Community College, May 14
This year’s event places a special focus on student achievement in Film and Animation, while showcasing the range of creativity across the department.
Tucson, Arizona - Pima Community College’s Digital Arts Department presents The Digital Arts Awards on May 14 at the West Campus Center for the Arts. The evening begins with a Reception at 6 p.m., followed by the Awards Ceremony at 7 p.m.
The Digital Arts Awards bring the excitement of a red-carpet awards night to the College as it celebrates the year’s most outstanding student filmmakers, animators and digital artists. Much like a film industry awards ceremony, the event will feature the announcement of top honors alongside clips from winning films, motion graphics, animation and game design.
Prior to the ceremony, guests are invited to attend a reception and explore the Digital Arts Showcase, which highlights the work of graduating students across multiple areas of study. The showcase includes portfolio presentations from graphic and web design students, a curated gallery of work from Digital Arts, Design and Illustration students, and interactive demonstrations allowing guests to play-test student-developed digital games.
The Digital Arts Department offers a range of programs in film, animation, design and emerging digital media. Students develop skills in visual storytelling, technical production and creative problem-solving across disciplines, including filmmaking, animation, graphic design and interactive media. This year’s event places a special focus on student achievement in Film and Animation, while continuing to showcase the range of creativity across the department through the showcase and reception activities.
Guests will be joined by Pima faculty, industry professionals, students and community members in celebrating the next generation of digital storytellers and designers.
In addition, the Digital Arts Department will host a Student Game Showcase 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m., May 11 outside the West Campus Bookstore. This interactive event invites the public to play-test games designed by students, meet the creators and experience the creativity and innovation behind their work.
