Art, Activism Unite in “Marietta Bernstorff: Patchwork” Exhibit at PCC West Campus, April 20
Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College, West Campus, Visual Arts Gallery will present the exhibition “Marietta Bernstorff: PatchWork – Women from Oaxaca, Mexico,” on view April 20-Sept. 4. Featuring a selection of works from the ongoing international textile art project “Patchwork Healing Blanket/La Manta de Curación,” initiated by Marietta Bernstorff, the exhibition brings together more than 1,000 women across cultures, transforming stitching into a collective response to gender-based violence and ecological harm. This exhibit will display 70 blankets and 25 handmade books drawn from the larger project.
Marietta Bernstorff has worked more than 35 years as a cultural promoter, visual artist and curator, building cross-border dialogues between Mexico and the United States around migration, gender violence and the environment.
A public reception will be held 3-5 p.m., April 23. Community members are invited to attend and experience the exhibition while meeting others interested in art, culture and social engagement.
Bernstorff is a cultural promoter, artist and curator who has worked for more than 30 years in the arts in both Mexico and the United States.
