PCC Invites Comments on Accreditation at Desert Vista Campus
TUCSON, AZ – The public is invited to provide comments and insight about Pima Community College’s programs and services as part of the College’s normal re-accreditation cycle at an open forum on Tuesday, September 19th from 2:00 p.m.-7:45 p.m. at PCC’s College’s Desert Vista Campus.
PCC is currently fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission HLC and is going through preparations for its regularly scheduled accreditation visit by the Higher Learning Commission in December of 2024. Preparations include public input about the College by district residents and businesses.
“The goal of accreditation is to ensure that institutions of higher education meet acceptable levels of quality,” The U.S. Department of Education said. “Accrediting agencies … develop evaluation criteria and conduct peer evaluations to assess whether … those criteria are met “.
The HLC is a regional and national organization accrediting schools like PCC. It is a private educational association, not a government agency. PCC and other higher learning institutions must reaffirm their accreditation every few years.
