Pursue your dream of becoming a police officer and give back to the community! Pima’s full-authority peace officer academy will prepare you for a rewarding career in law enforcement.

"You have time to digest what you’ve learned and become confident with each subject. I felt comfortable having the opportunity to think about what I learned and come back with questions."~ David Pastula, Pima Law Enforcement Cadet

The six-month academy is a rigorous program. It includes classroom instruction and physical and practical skills training. You will learn firearms, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, report writing, investigation techniques, physical fitness and more.

Pimas’s Law Enforcement Academy program is approved as a Basic Peace Officer program by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards & Training Board (AZPOST).

Cadets who complete Pima’s Law Enforcement Training Academy and pass the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) exam are eligible to be certified police officers.

Conditional Enrollment Program: You will be eligible to enroll in LEA courses once you have completed the requirements listed in Program Admissions and the Department has authorized your enrollment. See the program director or advisor for more information.

The Law Enforcement Academy Program Fund: The Pima College Foundation has established a fund to provide financial assistance to students who successfully complete the academy entrance requirements. Learn more at this link.
