Veterinary Technician (Veterinary Nurse)

The Veterinary Technician AAS degree at Pima Community College prepares you for a rewarding career in animal health care. Through hands-on training and expert-led courses, you’ll gain the skills needed to assist veterinarians with exams, procedures, surgeries, diagnostics and more—while working with a wide variety of animals, including exotic species.

As part of the program, you’ll complete two 144-hour internships in real clinical settings, giving you valuable experience and professional connections before you graduate. The program also helps prepare you to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), a key step toward Vet Tech certification and state licensure.

Whether you see yourself working in a small animal clinic, large animal practice, specialty hospital or research facility, you’ll graduate with the experience, support and career assistance you need to thrive in this high-demand field.
