Health Professions Division
In Pima’s Medical Assistant Program, you’ll master the knowledge and advanced patient care skills needed to assist physicians in office work and patient treatment. Not only will you learn about patient care and medical coding/billing, but you’ll also do back-office and front-office externships, gaining valuable experience.
After earning your certificate, you can jump right into the workforce or continue your education with additional certificates or degrees in medical administration or patient care, like Health Information Technology or Practical Nursing.
What You Will Learn
- Helping physicians with patient exams, including measuring vital signs
- Giving patients injections or medications as directed by a physician
- Collecting and preparing blood samples and other specimens for lab tests
- Medical coding and billing
- Medical and office supplies inventory management
