Learn to excel at caring for and educating young children through this flexible, high-quality program. Become a teacher’s aide, lead teacher or director of a preschool center, or open your own home child care center. Degree completion meets the criteria for the Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Career Lattice Level E.

What You Will Learn

The six areas below represent the Program Learning Outcomes, and what you can expect to learn while in the program. Upon completion of the program, you will have mastery regarding:
  • child development and characteristics of children ages 0-8 years (NAEYC Standard 1: Child Development and Learning in Context)
  • building family and community relationships (NAEYC Standard 2: Family-Teacher Partnerships and Community Connections)
  • goals, benefits and uses of assessments (NAEYC Standard 3: Child Observation, Documentation, and Assessment)
  • developmentally effective teaching approaches, including a broad array of effective strategies and tools (NAEYC Standard 4: Developmentally, Culturally, and Linguistically Appropriate Teaching Practices)
  • building meaningful curriculum using content knowledge and understanding of central concepts, inquiry tools and structures (NAEYC Standard 5: Knowledge, Application, and Integration of Academic Content in the Early Childhood Curriculum)
  • professional guidelines for ethical and effective practices (NAEYC Standard 6: Professionalism as an Early Childhood Educator)
