Thinking about a career as an EMT? Pima’s EMT certification program gives you the hands-on training and real-world skills you need to provide life-saving care before patients reach the hospital. You’ll learn how to assess and stabilize patients, respond to medical and trauma emergencies, use essential equipment, and operate an ambulance safely. The program also covers key topics like the role of EMS, patient triage, and legal and ethical responsibilities.

After completing the program, you’ll be eligible to take the Arizona and National Registry EMT exams and start working in the field. If you want to provide a higher level of patient care, you can continue your education with Pima’s Emergency Medical Technology – Paramedic AAS degree.

What You Will Learn

  • How to use protective gear and perform CPR according to American Heart Association standards
  • How to manage airways, assist with medications, and handle medical emergencies
  • How to assess and care for trauma patients and prepare them for transport
  • How to work as part of a response team and communicate effectively with other healthcare providers
  • How to complete clear and accurate patient care reports for handoff to hospitals or EMS teams
