Ethnic, Gender & Transborder Studies
How we define ourselves is at the heart of Ethnic, Gender and Transborder Studies. EGTS is about analyzing the numerous, complex ways our identities intersect. It’s about appreciating local and global perspectives, and how history impacts the present.
Through EGTS, you will gain an interdisciplinary perspective of the histories, cultures, socio-economic concerns, politics, and identities of people of color and people of multiple genders and sexualities on their own terms. Explore social movements, diasporas, and achievements of historically marginalized peoples in the U.S.

“Taking classes in Pima’s EGTS concentration...was the first time in all of my education ever that I felt that what I was reading, I could personally identify with. I felt like my voice was being heard and acknowledged and validated, and that there was a platform, a legitimate platform for my experience.”
Cassondra Jones
Pima graduate, Associate of Arts, EGTS Concentration
