Personalized Academic Coaching Experience (PACE)

PACE can support beyond 504/ADAAA accommodations. PACE coaches assist students in building skills to meet the learning objectives in their PCC classes.

Program Eligibility and Requirements

To be eligible for a PACE coach, students must:

  • Be enrolled in classes at Pima and be registered with ADR
  • Have a community participation goal for when they leave Pima Community College, such as employment or continued education
  • Meet one-on-one with a PACE coach as agreed
  • Acknowledge that the PACE program is not part of the accommodations required by Section 504 or ADAAA

What to expect from the PACE coaching program

PACE coaches can provide support and empower students to become confident, independent learners by developing skills such as:

  • Organization
  • Studying and test taking
  • Self-advocacy
  • Interaction with faculty, staff, and peers
  • Communication
  • Prioritization
  • Time Management
  • Finding and using Pima Community College resources
  • Other important life skills related to college success

Program Admission

PACE is not a 504/ADAAA accommodation and does not take the place of other student support services (e.g. tutoring, advising, counseling, accommodation decisions). Participation is at the sole discretion of Pima Community College.

Interested students are encouraged to discuss the PACE program with their ADR Program Specialist. If PACE is appropriate, the Program Coordinator will schedule an intake interview with the student. Topics discussed may include:

  • Post-Pima goal(s)
  • Academic strengths and areas for growth
  • What motivates the student
  • Other topics related to the learning experience

Once in the program, the student must participate as agreed. Progress is reviewed with the student each semester to determine continued eligibility.

How can I learn more about PACE?
