PCC Chancellor Assumes Key Leadership Positions in National Community College Organization

 Lee D. Lambert Named to AACC Executive Committee, Will Chair Committee on Program Initiatives and Workforce Training

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College Chancellor Lee D. Lambert has been named to two key leadership positions at the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), the primary advocacy organization for the nearly 13 million students enrolled in community colleges in the U.S.

Chancellor Lambert will serve on AACC’s eight-person Executive Committee in 2013-14. The Executive Committee is drawn from AACC’s 32-person Board of Directors and is responsible for keeping AACC accountable to its nearly 1,200 member institutions.

Chancellor Lambert also will chair AACC’s Committee on Program Initiatives and Workforce Training, which seeks to build community college capacity to meet the needs of labor markets across the U.S.

“I am honored to serve AACC during this exciting time in higher education,” Chancellor Lambert says. “Community colleges are assuming an increasingly critical role in preparing the U.S. workforce to successfully compete in the global job market.”

Chancellor Lambert, who has served on the AACC Board of Directors since July 2012, has been PCC Chancellor since July 1, 2013.  Before coming to PCC, Chancellor Lambert was President of Shoreline Community College in Shoreline, Wash., outside Seattle. He also served as Interim President, and was Vice President for Human Resources and Legal Affairs at Shoreline from January 2005-June 2006.
