Teaching and Learning Center Seminar on Digital Literacy

The Teaching & Learning Center will host a seminar on digital literacy with Sam Wineburg, the Margaret Jacks Professor of Education at Stanford. He will address a big question of our times, “What is it about the Internet that makes smart people spin around in circles?” The event is open to the public.
Seminar Description
The Internet plays by different rules from the print culture that has shaped our conceptions of reading. Drawing on a national survey with 3,447 high school “digital natives,” along with ethnographic work with Stanford undergraduates, Ph.D. academics, and professional fact-checkers, Wineburg
Wineburg’s work on digital literacy has been featured in TIME Magazine, The New York Times, NPR, the BBC, and translated into dozens of languages.
