College Updates

@PimaNews Summer Schedule
The remaining schedule for the @PimaNews summer publication is July 7 and 21, and Aug. 4. The first issue of fall is Aug. 18. Please send announcements and news items – 75 words or fewer ─ to pimanews@pima.edu by noon on Monday of the publication week.

Request to Transfer Sick to Annual Leave by June 30
In order to encourage the practical use of sick leave, the College allows eligible employees to request to transfer up to 40 hours of unused accrued sick leave to annual leave each June. All eligible staff and administrative personnel have until the end of June to submit their request online. To be eligible, an employee must be a regular full-time staff or an administrator (faculty, adjunct faculty and temporary employees are not eligible), have passed the initial hire probation period at the time of the request, and have used no more than six days of sick leave during the fiscal year. All eligible transfers will take place by July 31. To check your sick leave usage from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, log into your MyPima account. Full-time regular staff and administrative employees are entitled to two personal leave days per fiscal year. Personal leave days charged to sick leave are not taken into account when determining eligible leave to transfer. For help determining your eligibility/leave transfer, contact the Employee Service Center, esc@pima.edu. For details, refer to the Sick Leave to Annual Leave Transfer section of the Employee Handbook.

Essential Workers Housing Fund
Through a new community-based initiative, Pima Community College employees and students may be eligible to receive down payment and closing-cost assistance to help make buying a home more attainable. More information is here. If you have questions, contact dre@tucsonida.org.

Office 365 Rollout
IT is doing a phased migration of College workstations from Microsoft Office Professional 2016 to Microsoft Office 365. The College is making the change for many reasons, most notably because Office Professional 2016 is no longer in mainstream support and Office 365 is a perpetually updated version that will not require future major version upgrades. For more information on this upgrade, see the FAQs. As a reminder, active employees and enrolled students also can use Office 365 on up to five of their personally owned computers. Learn more here.

Submit a Pima Story Idea
Submit a story idea to highlight the amazing accomplishments of Pima students, faculty, staff and alumni. Stories submitted may be featured on Pima’s website, social media accounts and other promotional materials. If you have questions, contact Web Systems, websystems@pima.edu.

Pima Shared Governance through AERC
The All-Employee Representative Council (AERC) is a council of Pima employee peers that reviews and helps update policies, and finds solutions to matters affecting work conditions.

To learn more, visit the AERC Intranet Page.

General meetings are open to all employees. You also may submit questions or concerns to any AERC member or via the online comment box.

Pima Employment Opportunities for Internal Candidates
The College values its employees and wants them to advance their careers here. That is why some positions are open only to internal candidates. To view, go to MyPima > Employees > @Work > MyCareerCenter > View Internal Career Site > Search. Part-time staff and adjunct faculty, refer to AP 2.02.01 sections 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 for eligibility.
