Benefits Open Enrollment Is April 4-18
Open enrollment for the 2022-2023 benefits plan year is April 4-18. Benefits-eligible employees who want to make changes to their current benefits elections may do so via the MyPima, @Work, New Pima Benefits Enrollment link beginning April 4 (early submissions will not be accepted). You cannot make changes to your benefits plan outside of open enrollment unless you have a qualifying life event. More information on open enrollment is on the Employee Service Center Intranet page and the Wellness page. If you have questions, contact esc@pima.edu, 520-206-4945 or schedule a Google Meet appointment.

Support Pima in the Data and Analytics Professional Award Vote
There is news from the office of Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR). It concerns Vice Chancellor Nic Richmond but reflects the work of everyone at StAR. She is one of 100 finalists for Data and Analytics Professional of the Year, awarded by OnConferences.

Nominees come from financial services, telecommunications, media, education, transportation and other sectors of the economy.

Voters can select those finalists whom they have observed do one or more of the following:

  • Make a considerable impact on their organization and/or previous organizations
  • Make strong contributions to the data and analytics community through thought leadership
  • Innovate in their role/career
  • Exhibit exceptional leadership

Vote online, where you also can see the complete list of finalists. The deadline to vote is April 1.

Showcase Your Program to Airmen and their Families
The College is co-sponsoring and hosting the Arizona Air National Guard 162nd Wing’s Family Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 3 at the Desert Vista Campus outdoor wellness field. This is a great opportunity for the College to share and showcase our programs to the more than 3,000 airmen and their family members who are expected to attend.

If you are interested in attending the event to share information about your program or providing program materials, sign up online by March 30. Limited space is available.

Therapeutic Massage Appointments Available March 24-May 12
The Northwest Campus Massage Clinic is offering quality massage services to students, staff and the public. A 50-minute massage is $20 for Pima employees and students with a Pima ID ($30 for the public). The clinic is in A211 and appointment dates and times are:

  • March 24-May 12: Thursdays, 12:30 p.m., 1:35 p.m., 2:40 p.m., 3:45 p.m.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test in the previous 24 hours is required. Therapeutic Massage is not appropriate for anyone with serious or uncontrolled medical conditions, contagious illness or fever, or for women who are pregnant. West Campus Library Lunchtime Speaker Series March 22
Bring your lunch and join Pima Philosophy adjunct faculty and author Edip Yüksel noon-1 p.m. March 22 in the West Campus Library classroom for a discussion about the impacts an extreme religious ideology can have on society. Yüksel, who was forced to emigrate from Turkey to the U.S. in 1989 to escape religious and political oppression, is the author of more than 30 books in Turkish and English on religion, politics, philosophy and law.

IT Systems Status Notifications
The College is using a new service, StatusCast, to communicate downtime and scheduled maintenance. StatusCast includes:

  • IT Status Page, status.pima.edu, to check the status of the College’s IT systems
  • Subscription-based email notification; visit the Status Page and subscribe to email notifications. Notifications come from Pima Community College, noreply@statuscast.com, or StatusCast, noreply@statuscast.com, and are flagged “External” though they are legitimate.

Pima Internal Auditor’s Spring Newsletter Available
You can read about fraud awareness and prevention, and the phases of an internal audit process in the Spring 2022 newsletter of the Office of the Internal Auditor. The newsletter is posted on the College’s Intranet.

Google’s New Feature: Search Chips
Recently, Google released a new feature in Google Drive – a filter called “search chips.” The feature lets you break your search results down into people, file type, location, date of modification, shared label and tasks. These options come in the form of an additional suite of small drop-down menus nested below the scratch bar in Google Drive.

Accounting for Controlled Property and Capital Assets
Now through April 30, custodians and equipment managers are conducting physical inventory of capital and controllable equipment for the College’s Property Control Office. In-person Graduation Ceremony at Kino Stadium May 18
For 2022, the College is planning its first in-person graduation ceremony since 2019 and its first-ever outdoor ceremony.

Join us at 7 p.m. May 18, at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Pima Shared Governance through AERC
The All-Employee Representative Council (AERC) is a council of Pima employee peers that reviews and helps update policies, and finds solutions to matters affecting work conditions.

General meetings are open to all employees. You also may submit questions or concerns to any AERC member or via the online comment box.

  • “Maureen McClain Estate: Diana and Keith St. John’s Gift” exhibit runs through March 25 in the Visual Arts Gallery at West Campus.
  • Online ticket sales are open for August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson,” which runs March 25-April 3 at the Center for the Arts Black Box Theatre. Pima employee tickets are $15.
  • Enjoy chorale, jazz, orchestra, wind and guitar ensembles during the free music showcase, 1-4 p.m. March 27 at the Center for the Arts. Refreshments are provided.
