College Updates

Festival of Books Volunteers Needed
The Tucson Festival of Books is March 12-13, and Pima is seeking volunteers to provide a Pima presence at our table. Volunteers can share and present information on their subject matter expertise, while partnering with Pima’s External Relations staff during the event, which runs 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. each day. If you are interested in volunteering, complete this form by Feb. 28. If you have questions, contact Joi Stirrup, Director of External Relations.

Use of Google Sites Discouraged; Follow These Guidelines
The College realizes that Google Sites are becoming popular and wants employees to be aware of their appropriate use. In general, due to such things as ADA accessibility requirements, College information should be on the public-facing website pima.edu or the College Intranet. Here are the guidelines:

  • If the information you want to present is for the public, marketing or enrollment, then it should be on pima.edu. Contact Web Systems for assistance, websystems@pima.edu;
  • If the information you want to present is only for all students or all the faculty or all staff, then it should be on either MyPima (students) or the College’s Intranet site (employees);
  • If the information you want to present is only for a specific small group or internal audience, then it is OK to have a Google Site, but the site should be kept behind the MyPima login screen.

If you have questions, contact Web Systems, websystems@pima.edu or submit a Web Systems service request in MyPima > Employees > @Work > Quick Links > Service Requests > IT Service Requests > Web Systems.

Community Forums to Discuss Adult Learning Centers
Join us in a public forum to help shape the future of Pima’s Adult Learning Centers. The forums’ goal is to gather insights from community members who have been served by the Learning Centers over the past 25 years. The dates and times are:

  • Virtual – Feb. 22, 1-2:30 p.m. Click to join the meeting.
  • In person – March 5, 10-11:30 a.m., El Pueblo Liberty Adult Learning Center, 101 W. Irvington Road, Building 7; Co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and Tucson Vice Mayor Lane Santa Cruz; RSVP to attend.

If you have questions, contact 520-206-7330 or adulted@pima.edu.

Show Your Love for the ARC Food Pantry
Please help support the College’s ARC Resource Center and Food Pantry by enrolling in a payroll deduction plan. To establish a payroll deduction contribution, visit MyPima –> Employees –> Quick Links and select My Miscellaneous Deductions, then scroll down and click Add a New Benefit or Deduction and follow the instructions.

These payroll deduction donations will go to a Pima Foundation account benefitting ARC.

The first 25 employees to enroll in this payroll deduction will receive a prize from a local business. All employees enrolled by Feb. 28 will be entered to win a Grand Hot Air Balloon Experience.

ARC representatives say that if 50 employees made $5 per paycheck payroll deductions, it would be able to provide an additional 600 food bags for students, containing three to four days’ worth of meals.

Learn more about ARC here.

Community College Survey of Student Engagement
The Office of Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) recently administered the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE). Since 2011, the College has administered CCSSE every three to four years and is seeking input from College employees to learn how the student feedback from previous years has been used to initiate meaningful changes to improve the student experience and outcomes. Have previous results changed your opinions or how you interact with or teach students? Have you gleaned any insights, altered behaviors or taken actions from past responses? Are you aware of any College practices or policies that were altered? Please send your comments and examples to pcc-feedback@pima.edu. If you have questions, email pcc-feedback@pima.edu.
