Get a Sneak Preview of Pima’s New Facilities and Enjoy One of Tucson’s Best Car Shows
For one glorious Saturday each April, the west parking lot at Downtown Campus is home to the state’s oldest street rod and custom car show. On April 24, the Tucson Street Rod Association (TSRA) will hold its annual Rodders Days Car Show at the campus, marking an innovative four-year partnership between Pima and TSRA. The event is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be hand-built street rods, custom and classic cars, some worth up to $100,000; antique engines and mining equipment; vintage campers; food vendors, and more. In addition, Dean of Applied Technology Greg Wilson will lead tours of the brand new Automotive Technology and Innovation Center, part of the Center of Excellence in Applied Technology. Admission is free, and parking is plentiful.

Benefits Open Enrollment is April 12- 30
From April 12 to 30, benefit-eligible employees who want to make changes to their current benefit elections may do so online (the Employee Service Center is moving to paperless enrollment this year). Plan information and a link to start your enrollment are at the ESC Open Enrollment page. If you have questions, contact esc@pima.edu or schedule a Google Meet appointment.

Staff Council Nominations
Staff Council seeks nominations for its 2021 Election. Membership is open to all regular full-time staff. Elected Staff Council Representatives will serve for a two-year term: July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2023.

Employees are encouraged to nominate colleagues or themselves. The nominations are open April 2-12.

Nominations for Diversity and Inclusion Awards Extended to April 12
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is accepting nominations for the College’s Diversity and Inclusion Awards. Each year, the College recognizes individuals, groups and organizations who demonstrate exemplary leadership that manifests the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusions in practical action. To be considered, complete the Diversity and Inclusion Awards Nomination Form. All nominations must be received by April 12. If you have questions, email pcc-diversity@pima.edu

Virtual NC3 National CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day
The College is hosting its seventh annual Career and Technical Education Letter of Intent Signing Day 9:30 a.m., April 15 on YouTube. This virtual ceremony will include student photos and videos, and a special message from the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) and Pima Chancellor Lee Lambert. This event is one of many happening around the country in conjunction with NC3. NC3 works with industry and education partners to promote and support industry-driven and industry-recognized certifications in numerous technical fields. The Pima Honors Program Endowment Needs You
Looking to make a difference at Pima with your yearly giving? Please consider contributing to the Pima Foundation’s Honors Endowment. The endowment funds the Dr. Ken Vorndran Honors Program Award, which honors the program’s beloved retired Lead Honors Coordinator Emeritus “Dr. V,” whose vision of scholarship, service and leadership continues to guide its philosophies. Attention, Entrepreneurs: IDEA Funding April 15
The College is collaborating with Startup Tucson to make Southern Arizona’s largest entrepreneurial conference available free to Pima students, staff and faculty. On April 15, Pima students may join hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders and other students to learn, be inspired, and build their network. Register today.

Pima Employees Can Submit Video Messages to Class of 2021
Pima employees are invited to help celebrate Pima’s Class of 2021 by submitting a video message of no more than 30 seconds in length. The submission deadline is April 12. These messages will be edited and combined into a congratulatory video to be shown during the 2021 Virtual Graduation Ceremony at 7 p.m., May 19 on Pima’s YouTube page. 2021 Virtual Futures Conference
Contribute to Pima’s strategic planning by attending the 2021 virtual Futures Conference, an annual exchange of ideas between Pima students and employees, and community members. This year’s conference is virtual and interactive. Thedate, time and topic of the next session are April 16, 9-11 a.m., Feedback on draft Strategic Plan for 2021-2026.

No RSVP needed. The 2021 Futures Conference may be accessed via a PCCTV livestream.

Support Pima in the Data & Analytics Professional Award Vote
There is news from the office of Strategy, Analytics and Research (STAR). It concerns Vice Chancellor Nic Richmond but reflects the work of everyone at STAR. Nic is one of 150 finalists for Data and Analytics Professional of the Year, awarded by OnConferences. 

Nominees come from from financial services, telecommunications, media, education, transportation and other sectors of the economy. Nic is the only finalist from a community college.Voters can select those finalists whom they have observed do one or more of the following: 

  • Made a considerable impact on their organization and/or previous organizations.
  • Made strong contributions to the data and analytics community through thought leadership.
  • Innovate in their role/career.
  • Exhibit exceptional leadership.

Employees also are encouraged to visit the Employee Wellness website for additional resources, news and information on the Pima Healthy Rewards Program and wellness-related activities that qualify for Pima Wellness Activity points. You also can keep current on the latest wellness news.
