A Note to @PimaNews Readers

Because of the COVID-19 crisis, @PimaNews is highlighting recent COVID-19-related policy and procedure changes. The College will revise and update the information as the situation warrants. College leaders are committed to communicating with employees early and often during this uncertain time. However, they realize that the amount of information and details sometimes can be overwhelming.

College Updates

COVID-19 Drive-thru Testing at Desert Vista, East and West Campuses
Pima’s Facilities, Police and Environmental Health and Safety, in partnership with the Pima County Health Department and Arizona State University, have opened COVID-19 drive-thru testing sites. Appointments are required. When registering for your appointment, use agency code “SALIVATEST.” If you have scheduling issues or questions, email COVID19info@ASU.edu.

Office 365 Access
Did you know Pima employees can access Office 365 on up to five devices? Also, on March 19, College IT staff will begin synchronizing all employee accounts to Office 365. Following this change, any employees who previously self-registered at Office.com using their Pima email address will need to use the same password they use to login to MyPima/PCC-DOMAIN. If there are any questions, create an IT Support ticket in TeamDynamix.

STEM Scholarship Opportunity
Faculty and staff please advise STEM students of the opportunity to earn three-year scholarships of $3,500-$5,000 per semester to Pima and the UA through the Pima-UAZ STEM Bridge Program. The program is for Pima students entering their final year at Pima in fall 2021, with plans to transfer to UA in fall 2022. Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and qualify as being from a low-income household. Other eligibility restrictions apply. Students can contact Aglhaen Nieto for a pre-screening to determine their eligibility, anieto8@pima.edu or (520) 206-2180.

Mission Survey: Help Pima Build a New Fulfillment Framework
Pima is re-imagining its Mission Fulfillment Framework, a critical part of the Integrated Planning process. The Framework, which comprises the College’s Purpose, Mission, Behaviors and Vision, was revised most recently in 2016. You have an opportunity to provide insights on the proposed framework, created by Pima’s Strategic Planning Team, by responding to a short survey by March 18.

You also can contribute to strategic planning at Pima by attending the remaining sessions of the 2021 Futures Conference, an annual exchange of ideas between Pima students, employees and community members. This year’s conference is virtual and interactive. Dates and topics for the upcoming sessions:

  • March 11, 9-11 a.m.: Community needs for the next five to six years
  • March 22, 9-11 a.m.: Long-term priorities/Achieve 60 Pima County
  • April 16, 9-11 a.m.: Feedback on draft Strategic Plan for 2021-2026

No RSVP is needed. The 2021 Futures Conference can be accessed via a PCCTV livestream.

Records Management
Do you need help with records management? In an effort to comply with state and federal record retention requirements, Pima is promoting a records purge week April 5-9.

Purging process:

  • Inventory your records in file cabinets and shared drives
  • Reference the approved Department File Plan or the AZ State Library Retention Schedules for disposition and storage guidelines
  • For assistance with storing and disposing of records, submit an IT Service Request for Information Management > Records Management

Professional Development Workshop
Have you ever explored the financial structure and demographics of the College? Organizational Effectiveness and Development (OED) is offering a session facilitated by Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration David Bea, Ph.D., and Vice Chancellor for Strategy, Analytics and Research Nic Richmond, Ph.D. All employees are invited to the March 12, 10-11:15 a.m. workshop for answers to such questions as: Where does the College get its money from? What is an expenditure limitation? Whom does our College serve? What is FTSE? Log in to MyPima and sign up for the workshop.

Louis Carlos Bernal Gallery – Rethinking Social Justice, (Virtual) Online Now
The Louis Carlos Bernal Gallery’s newest exhibit, Rethinking Social Justice, is online now. This exhibit brings together two artists that grew up in Tucson: Alfred Quiroz and Allison Miller. Both artists are from minority backgrounds and bring awareness of social justice issues through their art. Email dandres@pima.edu with any questions.
