A Note to @PimaNews Readers

Because of the COVID-19 crisis, @PimaNews is highlighting recent COVID-19-related policy and procedure changes. These will be revised and updated as the situation warrants. College leaders are committed to communicating with employees early and often during this uncertain time. However, they realize that the amount of information and details sometimes can be overwhelming.

Info for Students, Employees and Community on Pima’s COVID-19 Web Page
The latest information and employee notices at pima.edu/covid19 include a link to FAQs about the self-reporting requirement under the temporary COVID-19 personnel policies, plus a link the Employee Handbook.

Chancellor Lee D. Lambert no longer is sending daily COVID-19 updates to employees, but all of his employee communications are online.

Also at pima.edu/covid19 are Student Notices. Employees and students should regularly check their College email.

Celebrate National Tutoring Appreciation Oct. 5-9
Help Pima Learning Centers thank our amazing tutors! Show your appreciation for Pima tutors by reaching out to tutors you know, sending an email to pcc-tutoring@email.edu for management to share or complete the online form that will be converted into word cloud art for tutors to see their positive impact on the College.

First Annual Striving for Excellence in Teaching Awards
The Provost and the Teaching and Learning Center present the Striving for Excellence in Teaching Award. This award will recognize 10 teaching staff members (full- and part-time faculty, and staff instructors) who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to improving teaching and learning at the College.

Each recipient will receive a monetary award of $100, courtesy of the Pima Foundation, be honored at All Faculty Day, and have their name engraved on a plaque displayed in the Office of the Provost.

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m., Nov. 16.

Pima Employment Opportunities for Internal Candidates
Pima values its employees and wants them to advance their careers at the College, which is why some positions are open only to internal candidates. Faculty Services and Resource Centers Available Virtually
Campus staff from the Faculty Resource centers and Campus Resource centers are available to assist you. Faculty services and resource centers also have new contact information, Faculty-Services@pima.edu and 520-206-6511.

• Faculty also can submit a Faculty Services Help Ticket for assistance with D2L Brightspace, Google Applications, Attendance and Grades or if they have other questions.
• Additional resources and information can be found at the Faculty Services Google Site.
• Check out the new Faculty Affairs & Development Employee Connect Community and engage.

New Online Access Requests
Pima employees are now able to request access to a campus, and retrieve and declare work assets using the online Asset or Access Request form. You can:

• Request access to pick up assets for use while working remotely. For example, a chair or a computer monitor (Note: This does not include PCs or network printers).
• Request access for other reasons. For example, to look up a file or do something that cannot be done remotely.
• Declare College assets already in your possession.

To access this form, visit MyPima > Employees > @Work > Quick Links > Requests & Approvals > Asset or Access Request. For questions, contact Human Resources, hr@pima.edu or 206-4624.

Library FRANK Talk: Understanding Systemic Oppression
Pima Community College Library will host an AZ Humanities FRANK Talk, “Nice is Not Enough: Understanding Systemic Oppression,” from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Oct. 16. Rory Gilbert, co-founder of the Healing Racism Public Dialogue Series and winner of the 2008 National League of Cities Promoting Inclusive Award, will lead this virtual community conversation about how systems impact people differently and the steps we can take to eliminate unfair treatment and harm to others. The Association of Classified Exempt Staff (ACES) invites exempt employees to join ACES. ACES represents all exempt employees to College administration on matters related to wages, salaries and working conditions. Sign up online for Employee Wellness virtual workshops:

• Health Coaching: In a 30-minute one-on-one appointment, you can get advice on nutrition, fitness, stress and disease management, self-care and financial guidance.
• Ergonomics at Home: Learn how to set up a productive and ergonomically correct workspace at home.
• Self-Care for Loneliness & Isolation: Learn self-care tips for working from home and being socially distant.
• Resistance Band Workouts: One-hour workshop
• Pre-recorded Workshops: Employees participating in Pima’s Healthy Rewards Program can earn two Pima Wellness Activity points.

Employee Wellness Resources and Program Info
Visit the Employee Wellness Intranet page to access free resources and tools. Employees also are encouraged to visit the Employee Wellness website for additional resources, news and information on the Pima Healthy Rewards Program and wellness-related activities that qualify for Pima Wellness Activity points. You also can keep current on the latest wellness news.

@PimaNews is an electronic newsletter for employee news of Pima Community College. It is published by the Pima Community College Marketing office. @PimaNews is published Thursdays, except when the College is closed, during the semester and every other week during the summer. Please send announcements and news items – 75 words or fewer ─ to pimanews@pima.edu by noon on Monday. Back issues are available on the @PimaNews Web page. The newsletter also accepts submissions about Pima employee accomplishments.
