Whether you have a passion for journalism, fiction, poetry or art, hone your skills by working on Pima's student publications.
|Pima Community College’s bi-weekly student-run newspaper, the Aztec Press, covers Pima news, arts, sports and commentary. The paper’s offices are located on the West Campus. Students who want to join the staff should enroll in JRN 185 (JRN 101 is a prerequisite for JRN 185).
"Aztec Press has received statewide and national recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, College Media Association, and the Arizona Newspaper Association".
The award-winning SandScript publishes the best prose, poetry and visual art by Pima Community College students from all campuses. It is a student-only publication. West Campus students create and design the entire publication in WRT 162 – Literary Magazine Workshop, a course offered every spring semester.
SandScript’s 2015 edition, the publication’s 25th anniversary issue, won first place in the Community College Humanities Association’s Literary Magazine Competition. 2015 also was the fourth consecutive year that SandScript has won the CCHS Southwestern Division Award. In 2014, SandScript also received the Southwestern Division Judges Awards for Individual Student Merit both for writing and for visual art.
