PCC Women’s Basketball Beat Phoenix College in Second Half

 Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (4-7, 3-3 in conference) took control in the second half in its 67-54 win over Phoenix College on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gym.

With the game tied 19-19 at halftime, Phoenix started the second half on a 8-0 run but the Aztecs responded with a 9-0 run of their own. Pima’s lead was cut to two points on a few occasions but it never lost the lead.

Three players scored in double figures for the Aztecs. A’jha Edwards (Tombstone HS) had 10 points, 13 rebounds and three steals. Alyssa Roche (Cienega HS) finished 2 for 4 from three-point range and had 10 points as well. DJ Davis (Tolleson HS) contributed with 10 points of her own as she went 6 for 8 from the free-throw line.

The Aztecs will not play until Thursday, Dec. 27 when they play at the West Campus as part of the Bruce Fleck Classic. The Aztecs begin the tournament against Sait College at 6 p.m.
