Sociology Pathway AA
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Sociology pathway, AA degree program, the learner will be able to:
- List examples of how distant, impersonal social forces shape the lives of groups and individuals in society (i.e. demonstrate the capacity known as the sociological imagination).
- Express in their own words what the scientific method is, explaining how scientific ways of knowing differ from ways of knowing via religion, tradition, ideology, opinion, common sense and intuition.
- Define and cite the importance of social stratification, including, but not limited to, stratification manifested in the parameters of socio-economic status, racial status, ethnicity, sex status, sexual orientation status, gender identity, age, physical disability status, mental health status, religious affiliation status, citizenship/immigration status, and worldview.
