Practical Nurse Certificate
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Practical Nurse Certificate program, the learner will be able to:
- Provide Safe Nursing Care defined as but not limited to standard precautions, proper medication administration, fall prevention, workplace safety, ergonomics, safe use of equipment, and accident/error/injury prevention
- Implement Caring Behaviors defined as but not limited to meeting the needs of the patient in the following realms: spiritual, cultural, respect, support, and advocacy
- Identify and Resolve Patient Care Problems at the LPN Scope of Practice Utilizing Problem Solving and Critical Thinking defined as but not limited to contributing to the assessment, planning episodic care, prioritizing care, contributing to evaluation, technical skill utilization, pharmacologic and physiologic knowledge
- Demonstrate Appropriate Communication Techniques defined as but not limited to delegation, teaching, documentation, reporting, electronic recordkeeping, prescription services, and therapeutic communication
- Identify and Utilize Evidence-Based Practice at the LPN level defined but not limited to article selection and review, understanding levels of evidence, credible sources, legal, ethical, and history of nursing practices

National Council of State Boards of Nursing
- Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN): 61 students tested, 56 students passed (92% pass rate)
