For various reasons of importance to the individual student, the College, public agencies, and transfer institutions, the College must classify all students as full-time or part-time and as freshmen or sophomores.
The Office of the Chancellor through the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Student Development delegates authority to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Services to establish standards for classifying students as full-time/part-time or freshman/sophomore. The Office of the Registrar will have the responsibility of applying these standards.
Pima Community College students will be classified using the following criteria:
Students enrolled for 12 or more credit hours for the fall or spring semester or 6 or more credit hours for a ten-week summer session or 4 or more credit hours for a six-week summer session or 4 or more credit hours for a six-week summer session will be classified as full-time students.
Students enrolled for 1 to 11 credit hours during fall or spring semester or 5 or fewer credit hours for a ten-week summer session of 3 credits or fewer for a six-week summer session will be classified as part-time students.
Students who have fewer than 29 semester credit hours will be considered freshmen.
Students who have earned 29 or more semester credit hours will be considered sophomores.
