Before you can enroll, you must earn a bachelor's degree and meet additional admission requirements.

Post-Degree Teacher Certification Program Redesign


The Pima Community College Post-Degree Teacher Certification Program (Elementary, Secondary, and Cross-Categorical) is being redesigned to incorporate new requirements from the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) and the U.S. Department of Education. The redesigned program will begin in Fall 2014. Current program courses will be phased out from Spring 2013 through Fall 2015 as shown in the timeline below. Courses in the current program may not transfer into the redesigned program.


The Post-Degree Program will continue to work closely with Arizona schools to meet their needs during this transition period.

  • New students interested in entering the redesigned program in Fall 2014:

Information sessions for the redesigned program will be offered in Spring 2014. Please contact the Teacher Education office for more information: or 520-206-6566.

  • Current and returning students intending to complete the current program:

Courses in the current program will be offered based on an established course availability schedule during the phase-out period. Before being cleared to register for additional courses, you must meet with a Program Advisor to ensure sufficient time for program completion and to receive an individualized completion plan of study. Please call 520-206-6408 to schedule an appointment.

Foundation and methods courses and student teaching will be available from Spring 2013 through Spring 2015 based on the established course availability schedule.

Only student teaching for the current program will be available in Fall 2015.
