Journey through the seasons via movement and music

May 3, 2012

Pima Community College Dance performs The Four Seasons concert May 11-12 at the Center for the Arts Proscenium Theatre on West Campus.

Under the direction of Aurora Gonçalves-Shaner, dancers transport the audience on a journey through winter, spring, summer and autumn highlighting the seasonal and emotional experiences of human life. Ballet, modern and jazz dances choreographed to an array of music including the classical music of Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" illustrate the passage of time.

Reflecting on the concert Gonçalves-Shaner remarks, "I grew up listening to Vivaldi's compositions and have always wanted to create movement to his master work 'FourSeasons.' During the performance dancers fill the stage with the experiences of fall harvest and Halloween, winter ice skating and skiing, spring blooming roses and young love, and summer pool fun with Arizona monsoon weather. We all go through different seasons in our lives, why not celebrate them all through movement and music?"
