Higher Education Forum Oct. 2 at PCC

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College is honored to be the site of a panel discussion next week about the outlook for postsecondary education in Arizona.

“Is Higher Education Ready for Arizona’s Future?,” an outreach program of the Arizona Town Hall, will be noon- 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Room A-109/A-112 of Community Campus, 401 N. Bonita Ave. [MAP]

The free event will feature presentations and a discussion by representatives from business and industry, education and civic groups:

  • Tara Jackson, president, Arizona Town Hall
  • Hank Peck, certified financial planner, partner, TCI Wealth Advisors Inc.
  • Francie Merryman, vice president and senior wealth strategist, Northern Trust Co.
  • Gary Rhoades, head of the department of Educational Policy Studies & Practice, and professor and director of the Center for the Study of Higher Education, at The University of Arizona
  • Chad Sampson, associate general counsel, Arizona Board of Regents
  • Catherine Tornbom, Arizona Deliberates

“Improving postsecondary access and success will require strong coordination and collaboration from a wide variety of stakeholders,” said Dr. Johnson Bia, President of Desert Vista Campus and host of the event. “PCC is proud to be the catalyst of a conversation that will move Arizona forward as it attempts to become a leader in 21st-century education.”

Arizona Town Hall is a private, non-profit civic organization which has created statewide forums that have guided the state’s civic, political, business and community leadership for 50 years.
