PCC to Extend Search for New Chancellor

Tucson, AZ -- Pima Community College’s Governing Board has hired a new firm to assist it in the search for a chancellor, and the chair of the Board says it is “marching forward” toward filling the post in July.

At a Special Meeting Tuesday night at Community Campus, the Board voted unanimously to hire the Association of Community College Trustees as an executive search consultant.

The Board also voted to terminate its contract with R.H. Perry & Associates, which the Board hired last year to aid in the chancellor search.

“It is the Board’s plan to have a new chancellor at work by July,” Board Chair Dr. Brenda B. Even said. “We are marching forward.”

Dr. Even and David Longoria, co-chairs of a citizens’ Search Advisory Committee, last week placed the search on hold after concerns were raised about one of two chancellor finalists named last month.

The motion to extend the search included a provision to continue with the existing Search Advisory Committee, which Dr. Even said has done a “fantastic” job.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board is Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the El Pueblo Liberty Learning Center, 101 W. Irvington Road.
