PCC Board Sets Deadline for Public to Submit Nominations for Chancellor Search Advisory Committee

August 21, 2012

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College’s Governing Board Monday voted unanimously to set Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 5 p.m. as the deadline for the public to submit nominations for an advisory committee that will help the Board in its search for a new chancellor.

Anyone interested in submitting a name should send it to ChancellorSearch@pima.edu.

The Board is seeking the names of individuals for the advisory search committee, as well as constituent groups that should be represented. People also can nominate themselves.

The committee will consist of about 25-30 people who represent a broad cross-section of the community. It also will include representatives from PCC and a student.

The Board has scheduled a public Special Meeting on Monday, Aug. 27 at 6:45 p.m. in the Community Board Room in PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway Blvd.

The chancellor of PCC will oversee one of the largest community colleges in the country. Each semester, the College has approximately 30,000 students attending its six campuses and numerous learning centers throughout the Tucson area.

Last May, PCC awarded certificates and degrees to 3,624 students, the largest graduating class in College history. PCC also is one of the region’s largest employers.

At Monday’s Special Meeting, the Board also voted unanimously to set Friday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. as the deadline for the public to offer its insights into challenges PCC is likely to face over the next decade.

Anyone interested in commenting on this can use the same email address, ChancellorSearch@pima.edu.

The latest information on the search for a new chancellor can be accessed by clicking on the blue “Chancellor Search” icon on PCC’s website, www.pima.edu.

Monday’s meeting was attended by Elizabeth Rocklin, a consultant from R.H. Perry & Associates, a Washington, D.C.-based executive search firm. In June, the Board hired R.H. Perry & Associates to assist in its search for a new chancellor. Ms. Rocklin will return next week to visit PCC campuses.

ChancellorSearch@pima.edu will remain active throughout the search process, which is expected to last into spring 2013, so that the public can share its insights with the Board.
