Second Market On the Move May 5 at PCC Desert Vista Campus
May 2, 2012
Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College PCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and The 3000 Club are teaming up to again help residents to eat more fresh produce, share with their communities and support academic excellence.
On Saturday, May 5, 2012, PCC’s Desert Vista Campus is hosting another Market On the Move. From 8 a.m. to noon, people can show up in Desert Vista’s North Parking Lot, pay $10 and receive up to 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Those buying the produce are encouraged to use what they need and share with friends and neighbors.
Ten percent of the proceeds, or $1 of every $10, taken in Saturday will go to the society, which recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. During the April 7 MOM at Desert Vista Campus, a total of 419 boxes of food, or approximately 25,000 pounds of food, was distributed.
The allotments are coming from an 18,000-pound delivery from The 3000 Club, a Phoenix nonprofit organization that rescues excess produce from the Arizona-Mexico border for distribution in metro Phoenix and Tucson.
