PCC Hosts Concord Coalition Seminar on U.S. Fiscal Policy
February 28, 2012
Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College is hosting the nonprofit Concord Coalition for a Fiscal Solutions Seminar on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Northwest Campus.
“We are honored to host a well-respected organization like the Concord Coalition,” said Dr. Suzanne Miles, PCC’s Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor. “Their mission – to educate the public about our nation’s fiscal policy – dovetails perfectly with the College’s role in our community.”
According to the Coalition, for the first time since World War II, the nation’s debt of $15.3 trillion exceeds the size of its entire annual economy. The U.S. Treasury’s estimate of the entire debt, including unfunded future obligations to federal pensions, Social Security and Medicare, is $51.3 trillion.
At the seminar, the Concord Coalition’s Rocky Mountain States Regional Director Paul Hansen will lead a PowerPoint presentation and discussion that is free and open to the public.
The nonpartisan Concord Coalition (www.concordcoalition.org) is a grassroots group dedicated to educating the public about the causes and consequences of federal budget deficits, the long-term challenges facing America’s unsustainable entitlement programs, and how to build a sound foundation for economic growth and jobs.
