PCC’s Aviation Technology Center Part of National Geographic TV Show
January 20, 2012
Tucson, AZ – This week, Pima Community College’s Aviation Technology Center served as a backdrop for an upcoming episode of National Geographic Channel’s “Air Crash Investigation” series.
On Jan. 19, 2012, Cineflix Productions, which also produces such shows as “American Pickers,” “Property Virgins” and “William Shatner’s Weird or What?,” used the hangar at ATC, 7211 South Park Ave., as the backdrop for interviews for an episode about a 1983 incident in Alaska in which a Lockheed L-188 Electra lost a propeller in midair, damaging the fuselage. The crew made a successful emergency landing. An air date for the episode is not yet scheduled.
“Air Crash Investigation,” known as “Mayday” in other markets, presents detailed accounts of plane crashes and near-disasters from around the globe that have helped improve aviation safety. Each show looks at what went wrong and if the events could have been prevented. It is produced in association with Discovery Channel (Canada), Canal D (Canada) and National Geographic Channel (U.S. and international).
Cineflix has offices in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland.
