PCC Interim Chancellor Miles Announces Appointments of Acting Provost and Acting Campus President
March 13, 2012
Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College Interim Chancellor Dr. Suzanne Miles has named two veteran PCC administrators to positions that became vacant when Dr. Miles was named Interim Chancellor last month.
Charlotte Fugett, currently East Campus President, will be Acting Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor. Dr. Lorraine Morales, currently East Campus Vice President of Instruction, will be Acting President of the Community Campus.
The positions came open after the PCC Governing Board named Dr. Miles Interim Chancellor on Feb. 29. Dr. Miles had been filling both positions.
“Both Ms. Fugett and Dr. Morales are well-respected throughout the College and Pima County,” Dr. Miles said. “Each has an eclectic background. Char is experienced in business and academics, while Lorraine was a student of Adult Education, has served at the Community Campus before and is experienced in student development and academics at the community college and university levels.”
The College currently is conducting a national search for Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.
Currently, 32 of 52 PCC administrators, or 62 percent, are female.
Ms. Fugett has been at PCC since 1998, when she was hired as Vice Chancellor for Human Resources. She served as East Campus president for five years. Ms. Fugett has a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Va., and earned a bachelor’s degree in History from Longwood University in Farmville, Va.
Dr. Morales has been at PCC since 2002 when she was hired as a Student Services Specialist. She has served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Development and in other positions at PCC. Dr. Morales has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, a master’s degree in Higher Education Student Development from the University of Arizona, and a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Western New Mexico University.
Dr. Miles was named Interim Chancellor to replace Dr. Roy Flores, who had to step down for health reasons. The Governing Board will discuss authorizing a national search for a permanent Chancellor at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway.
This week, PCC will announce openings for Acting President and Acting Vice President of Instruction at East Campus, Dr. Miles said.
