PCC Hosts Free Public Lecture on Power of Storytelling

Tucson, AZ - Amy C. Davis of Pima Community College’s counseling faculty will discuss how storytelling can serve as a powerful medium for learning and overcoming academic and personal life concerns and issues. The focus of the lecture will be on the learning, teaching and developmental opportunities inherent in reading, understanding and telling stories. General types and uses of stories and psycho-educational materials also will be discussed. 

Davis serves as the coordinator of advising and counseling services at Pima Community College’s Community Campus. She holds a master’s in counseling with an emphasis in community counseling, and has earned additional graduate level credits in both education and educational psychology. Davis has worked in the fields of counseling and education for more than 15 years.

The lecture is at 6 p.m., Oct. 25, at the PCC District Office, Community Board Room (Building C), 4905 E. Broadway Blvd. The Speakers’ Series is sponsored by Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of the College Dr. Suzanne Miles and PCC Faculty Senate.  The series, now in its second year, is aimed at showcasing the expertise and accomplishments of PCC’s faculty to the community.

The next Speakers’ Series presentation will be held at 6 p.m., November 15.  Dr. Mark Nelson, department chair of the Performing Arts Department, will give a presentation and live performance on the tuba.
