PCC Hosts Financial Aid Day on Aug. 27

High school, University of Arizona and Pima Community College students are encouraged to attend PCC’s Financial Aid Day on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Financial Aid Day starts at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, in the Community Board Room in Building C of PCC’s district offices, 4905 E. Broadway Blvd.
This free event is sponsored by PCC and Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva, Arizona 7th Congressional District, and is open to the public.
All events are in the Community Board Room except as indicated in the following agenda:
- 8:30 a.m. – Welcome and Introductions, Imelda Cuyugan, PCC Assistant Vice Chancellor for Government Relations
- 8:45 a.m. – “Federal Higher Education Policy, Student Loans and Pell Grants,” guest speaker Joseph P. Mais, Senior Legislative Assistant to Congressman Grijalva
- 9:45 a.m. – Break
- 10 a.m. – “Nuts and Bolts of Financial Aid,” Anna Reese, PCC Executive Director of Financial Aid, and Rebeka Salcedo, Assistant Director, Financial Aid, University of Arizona
- 11 a.m. – “The Scholarship Process and How to Apply,” Alma Yubeta, Development Manager, Pima Community College Foundation, and Rebeka Salcedo, UA
- Noon – Guest speaker, Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva, Arizona 7th Congressional District (Box lunches to be picked up in lunch room and taken back to Community Board Room)
- 1-3 p.m. – “FAFSA Frenzy, How to Fill Out Your FAFSA” hands-on workshop, PCC’s Anna Reese, Room C-115. You can save time by completing as much of the FAFSA Worksheet as possible ahead of time. Students attending this workshop should have:
- Social Security Number
- driver's license or photo ID
- W-2 or a pay stub
- 2010 tax return
- FAFSA PIN (Staff will help students without one sign up for one or re-set theirs.)
