Instructor - Computer Software Skills (located at the Arizona State Prison Complex)

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide instruction to students in a correctional setting using a variety of methods; adjust teaching styles to meet the needs of a diverse student population; prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, classroom and laboratory presentations, public presentations, and assisting students in achieving educational goals; assess student needs and goals; determine student placement in program; evaluating student skills and assessing student progress for program continuation or completion; preparing official records, forms and related documentation requirements within established timelines; developing, researching, reviewing and/or revising curriculum; selecting texts, equipment, and materials including evaluation of alternative delivery methods of instruction; may serve as a resource for instructional staff throughout the program in specialized areas of instruction; performing other duties of a similar nature or level.

Successful candidate will have experience working with:

  • Coordinating and communicating with contractor and students for hands on learning opportunities.
  • Setting up education site under contract
  • Evaluating equipment used in program
  • Inventory of lab and associated equipment

Successful candidate will have knowledge of:

POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Pass criminal background and fingerprint check, urinalysis, have clear tuberculosis test results.

Required Training and Experience: Two years of teaching experience and a Bachelor Degree in CIS, MIS, Management Science and Computer Systems, etc. or a related area; or an equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements:

  • Possess Pima Community College faculty certification in appropriate discipline or ability to obtain certification as faculty in the appropriate discipline
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License

OTHER INFORMATION: A flexible schedule (including evenings) is required for this position in order to meet customer needs. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.
