PCC Men’s Basketball Takes Control in Second Half to Win

 Tucson, AZ – The men’s basketball team (5-3) outscored Team Sweeney 61-44 in the second half in its 101-77 win on Saturday in the final day of the Thanksgiving Tournament at the West Campus’ Aztec Gym. Pima had six players score in double figures.

With the game tied at 31-31, The Aztecs finished the half on a 7-0 run. Rodriguez Tucker (White Station HS, TN) grabbed 11 rebounds in the first half. The Aztecs went on another 7-0 run early in the second half and continued to pull away from there.

Tucker earned a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Lawrence Pierce (Peoria HS) led the Aztecs in scoring with a team-high 21 points. Orlando Lopez (Kofa HS) scored all 14 of his points in the second half. He also had nine rebounds. Mike Jones (Verrado HS) and Marcus Mears (Buena HS) each contributed with 15 points. Roland Jones (Palo Verde HS) finished with 10 points, all of which came in the first half.

The Aztecs are back on the road when they travel to Thatcher on Wednesday to play Eastern Arizona College at 7:30 p.m.
