PCC Men’s Basketball Drops Conference Opener

 Tucson, AZ – The men’s basketball team (4-2, 0-1 in conference) had a tough contest against Glendale Community College on Saturday in its 101-93 loss at the West Campus.

The Aztecs traded the lead with Glendale in the first half. After being down 31-30 at one point, the Aztecs went on a 9-0 run led by Rodriguez Tucker (White Station HS, TN) who scored six straight points. The Aztecs led 39-31 with 4:47 left in the half. Glendale took a 47-46 lead at the break.

Pima trailed much of the second half but tied the game on five different occasions. It took an 81-79 lead after a Terrence Carroll basketball with 5:34 left in the game but Glendale hit a 3-pointer and led the rest of the way.

The Aztecs produced five players in double figures scoring. Lawrence Pierce (Peoria HS) scored a team-high 21 points. Tucker scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half while DeVante Williams (O’Dea HS, WA) scored all 13 of his in the second half. Marcus Mears and Terrence Carroll each contributed with 12.

The Aztecs will travel to Yuma on Tuesday to play Arizona Western College at 7:30 p.m.
