PCC Men’s Basketball Comes Back in Second Half to Win

 Tucson, AZ – The men’s basketball team (4-1) struggled in its game on Wednesday against Tierra del Sol, a travel team that plays in the Chicano Basketball League, but took the lead late in the second half to win 90-83. The Aztecs trailed 46-36 at halftime.

Down 74-66, the Aztecs went on a 12-2 run and took its first lead of the half after Rodriguez Tucker (White Station HS, TN) scored a layup to put Pima up 78-76 with 3:32 left in the game. Up 83-81 with under a minute left, Lawrence Pierce (Peoria HS) helped seal it after he hit a 3-pointer from the corner to make it 86-81.

The Aztecs had five players score in double figures led by Pierce who had 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Tucker had 12 points and three steals while Marcus Mears (Buena HS) contributed with 14 and DeVante Williams (O’Dea HS, WA) had 13. Terrence Carroll (Cordova HS, TN) finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Mike Jones (Verrado HS) had four blocks for the game.

The Aztecs open ACCAC conference play on Saturday at the West Campus when they host Glendale Community College at 4 p.m.
